Have you ever gone to post a Youtube video on your website and it wouldn’t autoplay? That’s annoying right? You get so frustrated trying to figure out how to make it happen because Youtube doesn’t make it easy for you.  You would think that they could put a simple little box under the embed section that says “autoplay” which would make it so much easier but they don’t.

It’s important to make sure to use good judgment when you autoplay Youtube videos though. It could be really annoying to a visitor if they go to your website and the same video plays over and over. I would highly recommend not autoplaying a video on your blog unless it’s relevant to your visitors and it’s not pitchy or salesy. If it’s a welcome video that shows your personality and is fun, that could work but I’d suggest mixing the video up a bit if you want to go that route.

A lot of times people think that autoplaying their video on their blog would be a benefit because their video would get a lot more views but that’s only true initially.  Sure you might get a bunch of views one time but chances are your visitor might not be a repeat visitor to your blog because hearing the same video over and over tends to be really annoying. If you have “niche websites” or “how to websites” where your goal is to just get someone to opt in to your list or to buy something then this technique could be very powerful because you might not care about repeat visitors. Your goal in this case is to get them on and off your page as quickly as possible.

If you know how to do it right on your blog then you could autoplay Youtube videos on a static page initially to get your prospect to opt in to your list and then run your blog on a separate page of your website so that they won’t have to constantly see your same video autoplay when they are reading your blog posts. This is could be an effective way to initially build rapport with your prospect because they hear your voice immediately and the video pops out at them. Then when they visit your blog they’ll be more inclined to play other videos that you’ve posted. I just wouldn’t recommend doing this technique on a widget in WordPress or a static page that your prospect can’t avoid everytime they come to your site.

So just remember that if you want to make a lasting impression with your visitors then it’s important to make sure your videos are relevant to the topic at hand and make sure that you don’t annoy your visitors constantly when you autoplay Youtube videos.

Here is the step by step process on how to embed Youtube video on Facebook :

Step One:

Log in to your Facebook fan page and locate the static FBML application.

Step Two:

Find the edit page and go to the APPS application tab.  Click on that application and then go down to where it says “FBML” and go to that application.  If you haven’t already added the static FBML, just go to the “browse more applications” and type in “static FBML.”  This will bring you to the correct page and you can then add this application to your Facebook page.

Step Three:

After you have installed the static FBML applications, you’ll want to go to the application and find the code.  This is where you are going to edit your YouTube video and make it work in your static FBML application.

Step Four:

Locate the You Tube link with the X’s after the imgsrc=.  This is the image you want to show.  By default YouTube will show the video as kind of a blurred image.  This doesn’t look very professional.  If you like the way it looks, great.  If not, you want to upload a different photo and paste it here.

You are looking for the V= and those are the letters that you want to copy.  You want to copy those letters and then go back over to your page and paste them right by the X’s.  Paste a second time.  Click on the static FBML and note that you can change that tab to whatever you want to show there – video, ad, whatever.  As you can see, the picture is blurred. This is the default.  You have to click on the picture once, then the video will pop up.  Click on the picture a second time and the picture is clear.  This is basically how to get into the video.
